FUJI GREEN TEA from JAPAN

Tea City Museum. At the ceremony

On Friday, May 10, 2019, a ceremony for the presentation of freshly harvested tea was held in honor of the governor of Shizuoka Prefecture at the Fuji-no-Kuni Tea City Museum. At the ceremony, tea girls from 15 tea-producing regions around the prefecture presented the governor with some fresh tea from each region. Representing Fuji City, 21st Tea Girl Hitomi Shiozawa presented some fresh high-quality Fuji tea that had been grown at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Here is a comment from Ms. Shiozawa.

“At this ceremony, girls from 15 regions in the prefecture came to present fresh tea to Governor Kawakatsu. Besides the girls’ costumes, there were differences in the tea from each region, and the other tea girls were very cute! I was nervous but managed to present the tea from Fuji without any problems. The venue was that of the spring installment of the World Tea Festival, and there were various stalls as well as tea growers—it was quite an active scene, and a lot of fun! I’m looking forward to the World Tea Festival this autumn.”

Tea is harvested several times a year, but the tea harvested on the 88th night of the year is a special blend that can only be tasted right now. Please enjoy the flavor and aroma of freshly harvested tea!
